A normative and sociological analysis was carried out on the phenomenon of litter abandonment, which provided a comprehensive understanding of the issue. A second analysis of the management costs of cleaning up places was conducted on both Italian and Swiss cooperation areas involved in the project. Through a permanent Technical Table against waste abandonment, the different control practices and waste management were investigated and discussed in depth and appropriate solutions were developed.

Application software  and GIS Web-based app (on the institutional websites of the Province and local authorities involved in the project) were created to enable public managers to better manage, but also private citizens to report waste abandonments. The project then supported the campaign to raise awareness and promote the entire Integrated Territorial Project Rifiuti, nuovi percorsi di collaborazione transfrontaliera“.
