CO 20 is an innovative and advanced tool designed and developed by TerrAria and made available since 2011, created as a support tool for signatories of the Covenant of Mayors (Covenant of Mayors -Europe), called to build energy-emission budgets for their area of competence and to define a concrete action plan to achieve the goals set by the European Union (reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, strengthening resilience, reducing energy poverty). From the outset, the software was designed to allow for periodic monitoring of the overall effectiveness of the Action Plan, while also allowing for the divulgation through the web of the commitments made by the Entity. Within the CO20 software, a system for real-time monitoring of the consumption of utilities within the authority’s jurisdiction, called CO20 Plus, was subsequently integrated. With the presentation of the new Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy at the end of 2015, a new challenge opened up: the introduction of the concepts of climate change mitigation and adaptation into the new version of the software (CO20 Adapt).
Product Application
CO20 is used by more than 300 local governments throughout Italy that have joined the Covenant of Mayors for the definition of their SECAP (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans), the creation of energy–e mission inventories and the definition of concrete actions to achieve the goals set by the EU.
CO20 constructs the annual municipal energy-emission balance sheet and enables the evaluation of the effectiveness of local interventions in terms of energy savings, emission reductions, increased energy production from renewable sources, investment cost, and payback time.
